The Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development in Nigeria, Mahmud Adam Kambari, has reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to maintaining a cordial and productive relationship with the Abuja Transportation and Aviation Correspondents Association (ATACA), promising continued cooperation and support for media practitioners covering the sector.

Kambari gave the assurance on Monday during a courtesy visit by members of ATACA to his office in Abuja.

The Permanent Secretary said his assumption of office would not affect the longstanding partnership between the Ministry and the Association, stressing that efforts would be made to strengthen existing ties and support the media’s role in showcasing the achievements and activities of Nigeria’s aviation industry.

According to him, whenever opportunities arise for participation in official local and international engagements of the Ministry, consideration would be given to including a representative of ATACA.

He, however, advised the Association to ensure a fair and transparent nomination process to guarantee equitable access to such opportunities among members.

Kambari also urged members of the Association to sustain the spirit of unity, cooperation and professionalism that has earned ATACA recognition within the sector.

He commended the Association for its consistent media support and extensive coverage of the activities of the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, noting that the Minister remains committed to transforming Nigeria’s aviation sector through strategic reforms and innovative policies.

The Permanent Secretary further disclosed that the Ministry is planning a ministerial press briefing to provide greater public awareness of its key programmes, policies and achievements.
Responding to requests presented by the Association, Kambari assured members that the Ministry would give due consideration to proposals, particularly support for ATACA’s Annual Conference scheduled for September 2026. He pledged maximum cooperation in advancing the objectives of the Association.

He reiterated that his office remains open to constructive engagement and collaboration, adding that members of ATACA can channel concerns and suggestions through the Office of the Director of Press and Public Affairs.

Earlier, ATACA Chairman, Mr. Ejike Omeje, expressed appreciation to the Permanent Secretary for receiving the delegation and granting the Association an opportunity for a familiarisation visit.
Omeje explained that ATACA comprises more than 40 correspondents covering the transportation and aviation sectors, and highlighted the Association’s contribution to promoting informed and accurate reportage of developments within the industries.

He appealed for support for ATACA’s Annual Seminar and requested the inclusion of members of the Association in local and international official trips of the Ministry to enhance media coverage of the aviation sector.

In a vote of thanks, The immediate past Chairman of ATACA, Mr. Oru Leonard commended the Permanent Secretary for his warm reception and media-friendly disposition, while assuring him of the Association’s continued cooperation and support.
