FRSC Nabs Overloaded Vehicles in Bauchi, Warns Against Life-Threatening Practices

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has apprehended two dangerously overloaded vehicles along the Bauchi–Kari route, raising fresh concerns over persistent violations of road safety regulations.
The arrest was carried out by officers of the RS12.12 Darazo Unit Command, who intercepted the vehicle with passengers precariously seated atop heaps of goods—an act described as a gross disregard for human safety.
According to the Corps, the situation posed severe risks, as passengers were left completely exposed in the event of a crash, sudden braking, or loss of vehicle control.
FRSC officials reiterated that overloading goes beyond being a traffic offence, warning that it significantly compromises vehicle stability, increases stopping distance, and endangers not only passengers but also other road users.
The Corps issued a strong advisory to drivers and vehicle owners to comply strictly with prescribed loading limits, stressing that no journey is worth the loss of human life.
FRSC further emphasized that passengers should never be treated as cargo, reaffirming its commitment to enforcing safety standards and reducing preventable road crashes across the country.
