FOOTBALL: Osimhen grabs hattrick as Super Eagles run riot

The Super Eagles of Nigeria were on fire as they thrash São Tomé and Principe 6-0 in their final Group A game of the 2023 AFCON qualifiers at the God’swill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.

Balon D’or nominee, Victor Osimhen scored three as Ademola Lookman, Taiwo Awoniyi and Samuel Chukwueze got a goal each in a superlative performance.

The Napoli forward, Osimhen opened scoring for the Eagles on 13th minute whan he scored from the corner kick which was taken by Lookman.
Lookman made it 2-0 in the 27th minute when he cut inside from the left and drilled a low shot past the São Tomé keeper after he received a pass from Wilfred Ndidi.

Awoniyi brought his form from the club level when he received a pass from Kelechi Iheanacho with his chest and volleyed into the net to make it 3-0 in the 51st minute.

Osimhen had his second of teg night when he converted from the penalty spot in the 69th minute to put the Eagles 4-0.

Osimhen completed his hat-trick ten minutes later to make it 5-0 when he scored after getting the pass from Chukwueze.

With six minutes left Chukwueze also got on the score sheet to make it 6-0 thanks to an assist from Boniface.

The Eagles finished the qualifiers top of the group with 15 points from six games
