Plans to host the international humanitarian summit is underway as The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Thursday, inaugurated a planning committee for the forthcoming Nigerian International Humanitarian Summit scheduled for October 16-19.

Members of the The committee include but not limited to the ministry, Brevity Anderson Consultancy, The Presidency and North East Development Commission, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), National Senior Citizens Centre (NSCC), National Commission for Persons with Disabilities

While inaugurating the committee in Abuja, the Permanent Secretary, Dr Nasir Sani-Gwarzo, represented by the Director of Humanitarian Affairs in the ministry, Alhaji Ali Grema, implored the committee members to be committed in carrying out their given tasks.

He noted that the President Muhammadu Buhari who has approved the hosting of the Nigeria International Humanitarian Summit scheduled to hold has also confirmed his participation of the event scheduled to hold from the 16 to 19 of October at the State House Banquet Hall and the NAF Conference Centre, Abuja.

“I am happy that, so far, our partners Brevity Anderson, had already achieved some milestones in preparation for the successful hosting of the summit. We must, therefore, ensure that all other pending issues are adequately prepared for and concluded one week before the commencement date of the summit” Ali emphasized

The Chairman of the committee and Director of Planning Research and Statistics (PRS) in the ministry, Mr Peter Nwakpe, while giving his remarks  assured that the ministry will do its best to deliver on the mandate of the committee.
