The Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Hon. Hulayat Motunrayo Omidiran, has unveiled a series of welfare-focused initiatives, including staff promotions and retirees’ payments, as part of activities marking the 2026 Workers’ Day celebration.
Speaking during an event organised by the FCC Tripartite Union and Joint Negotiating Council (JNC) at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja, Omidiran reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to improving staff welfare, enhancing career progression, and fostering institutional harmony.
She disclosed that funds have been approved for the payment of retirees’ entitlements, noting that disbursement would begin in phases as releases become available.
“I have approved repatriation monies for retirees, but approval is different from releases. We will begin payment in batches as funds are made available,” she said, urging patience among beneficiaries.
On career advancement, the FCC boss directed that staff promotion processes be completed before the end of May 2026, assuring employees of ongoing efforts to improve their welfare.
Omidiran also introduced new engagement initiatives, including quarterly staff interactions and an annual end-of-year gathering, aimed at strengthening inclusiveness and boosting morale within the Commission.
Earlier, Chairman of the FCC Tripartite Union/JNC, Benson Ameh, praised the leadership style of the Executive Chairman, noting that her reforms have enhanced unity and repositioned the Commission.
Similarly, former President of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria and current FCC Commissioner representing Taraba State, Comrade Bobboi Bala Kaigama, highlighted the importance of sustained dialogue between management and staff in achieving industrial harmony.
In his remarks, Director of Human Resources, Abubakar Tanimu, reiterated management’s commitment to building a motivated and professional workforce anchored on fairness and service excellence.
The Workers’ Day celebration served as a platform to recognise staff contributions while reinforcing the Commission’s resolve to promote productivity and efficiency in line with its mandate.
