FAAN to consolidate on the accomplishments of past administration- New MD

The New Managing Director/ CEO of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mr Kabir Yusuf has promised to continue on the developmental strides of the past administration.

Kabir stated this during the handing over of the ceremony between him and the immediate past MD Captain Hamisu Yagudu, which took place on Tuesday.

The new managing director who gave thanks to God for his elevation noted that the airport is a catalyst to tourism growth and key to national and international relations for the overall sustainable aviation sector.

“ I am grateful to Allah for the opportunity to contribute my quota to my country. I am not the most experienced, neither most qualified nor deserved. It is just a choice of God. To Him, I extend my sincere gratitude.

“Current global reality shows that aviation drives sustainable growth. We will put all hands on deck to reposition our airports towards establishing sustainability during our purposely leadership, with professionalism, discipline, accountability and responsibility“ he said.

He sought support of all stakeholders to build on the successes of previous leaders, adding that effort would be intensified to improve facilities for safety, security and efficiency, to carry passengers and goods at world class standards.

“I pledge to serve at all times to develop and profitably managed customer centric airports authority with facilities that are good for self secure and efficient carriage of good and services st world class standards” he promised.
He also said he will consolidate on the successes of the past management.
“We can only consolidate on the accomplishments of the past administration. Everything you see at the airports that are making passengers friendly, we will continue to do more”, he committed.

Earlier in his remarks before the handing over, the immediate past MD, said his tenure expired on the 19th of May, 2023 expressed satisfaction over his stewardship noting that he is leaving FAAN better than when he met it.

He said, “I’m glad to look back and say there is no staff of FAAN that needed any form of support that we didn’t grant. We have also supported stakeholders and solved most of the challenges that they might have. We resolved all reasonable stakeholder issues” he said.
He also said FAAN has witnessed significant physical infrastructure growth.
“There are major expansions across all airports. From the airfields, to the taxiway, and more. Also there is replacement of key equipment across the airports – baggage handling system, disabled aircraft recovery, training machines, air conditioning systems, escalators and lifts.”

Hamisu said some of the equipments at FAAN had lasted for more than 43 years but were replaced in the last five years, adding that the Authority had received recognitions from ICAO, IATA, and other global institutions based on FAANs  accomplishments.
