DISASTER: Ayade commiserates with victims of fire incident

The Cross River State Governor, His Excellency Sen Prof Ben Ayade has described as “sad and disturbing, the fire outbreak at the Marian Fruits Market in Calabar” where goods worth millions of Naira were destroyed on Tuesday, August 30, 2022.

In a statement released by the Deputy Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Linus Obogo, Ayade said, ” I am saddened by the news of the fire outbreak at the Marian Market and the loss of goods and properties. I deeply sympathize with the traders whose goods may have been gutted by the fire.

We are looking at the best possible ways to curb the menace of fire outbreaks at the market which has regrettably become a regular incident “.

The fire incident according to reports gutted more than twenty (20) lockup shops at the popular market and it took the valiant effort of the men of the Federal Fire Service about five hours to put out the fire.

On further investigation, Newsdotafrica discovered that the fire was caused by a gas explosion in one of the lockup shops where a woman who was boiling beans slept off.
