Councilors forum holds 2018 lecture, retreat

The National Councilors Forum of Nigeria (NCFN), has held its 2018 lecture and retreat on Monday 10 to Thursday 13 December, 2018.

The president of the forum, Honourable Nurudeen Alimi in his opening remark appreciated everyone that made it to the year’s  forum and promised a wonderful retreat that will never be regretted.

Speaking at the event Adamu Aminu Yakasai, chief executive of M.A Consult Limited Kano, said that “the constitutional recognition of Local Government is a clear indication that not only do we need them, but they are necessity for realisation of the overall   developmental goals of the nation since the local government is the first experience with what really is a “government “. Yakasai who spoke on ‘Local Government Councils and the Challenges of Tenure’ said, Constitutional arrangement is very needed to ensure their proper functioning and effective delivery of service through assured and uniformed tenure as universally practiced in all democracies.

Also speaking, Mamman Saba Abdulkardir, on ‘Election Representatives And Post Tenure Ship: Socio-Political Challenges In Nigeria’ said that ” The challenges elected representatives encounter in the post tenure in Nigeria politics are better imagined  than described therefore the crux of the matter , facing the present political class is not how one survives post tenure, but how to remain politically and socially relevant to their own community”.

In his closing remark, the president of the councilors forum thanked participants for attending, “I hope that at the end of this conference, the mindset of some of us will change and then difference will be seen when we get back to our various local government” he concluded.

Participants and stakeholders at the event include Alh. Aliyu Adamu from Kano state, Rt honourable Alumi Nuhu .A, Honourable Debo  Olaleye from Oyo state , Rt Honourable Joshua Ojo, Mamman Saba Abdulkadir, PhD (UPM), Honourable Nurudeen Alimi (President NCFN)  amongst others.
