BANGLADESH HIGH COMMISSIONER VISITS NIGERIAN NATIONAL LIBRARY

As a part of the on-going public diplomacy drive of the Mission, H.E. Mr. Md. Shameem Ahsan, High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Nigeria met Prof. Lenrie O. Aina, National Librarian/CEO of the National Library, Abuja, Nigeria on 09 October, 2020.

During an interactive session, the High Commissioner briefed on Bangladesh and on the growing bilateral relationship in the presence of the senior officials of the National Library. Later, he handed a good number of books on the war of liberation, history, culture, economy and development journey of Bangladesh. Publications included, among others, Memoir written by the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the Mission’s recent publication to mark the birth centenary of Bangabandhu. The High Commissioner also expressed hope that the National Library of Nigeria, Abuja and Central Public Library of Bangladesh could explore possibilities of signing an MoU/Agreement on institutional linkage/collaborative partnership in future to create greater understanding between the peoples of the two countries which he welcomed. It may be mentioned here that MoUs on cooperation in the fields of education and culture, among others, are expected to be signed soon between Bangladesh and Nigeria. Prof. Aina appreciated the gesture of the Mission.

He also shared some valuable publications/materials of the Library. Mr. Bidosh Chandra Barman, First Secretary of the Mission accompanied the High Commissioner.
