Bangabandhu’s 100th Birth Anniversary Celebrated In Nigeria With Festivity,love

One hundredth (100th) Birth Anniversary of the greatest Bangalee of all time, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh
Mujibur Rahman was celebrated with festivity and love at the Bangladesh High Commission, Abuja, Nigeria.

The programme started at 10 am on 17 March 2020 with the hoisting of national flag at the Chancery by the High Commissioner in presence of the officials of the Mission. The messages from President, Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and State Minister for Foreign Affairs were read out, followed by a special prayer for the salvation of the departed souls of Bangabandhu, his martyred family members and martyrs of the War of Liberation.

The officials of the Mission visited City of Refuge Orphanage in Abuja to mark the National Children’s Day. They made brief remarks on the love and affection of the Father of the Nation for children before the orphans and the officials of the facility. Later, they handed over some food items and gifts to the Administrator of the City of Refuge Orphanage.  

In the evening, a discussion took place at the auditorium of the High Commission. Other activities included placing of floral wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu by the High Commissioner, accompanied by his wife Mrs. Pandora Chowdhury, officials and members of the community, screening of documentary, cutting cake, releasing of balloons, distribution of 'Mujib Graphics Novel' book among the children, and visiting ‘‘Bangabandhu Corner’’.

During the discussion, Mr. Md. Shameem Ahsan, High Commissioner paid glowing tribute to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman for his great contribution to the independence of Bangladesh. While terming ‘Bangladesh and Bangabandhu as identical’, the High Commissioner added that Bangabandhu’s ideals will act as eternal source of inspiration for the whole nation.

Mr. Ahsan mentioned about the unflinching love and affection of the Father of the Nation for the children.
