Aviation workforce remains critical to achieving 5-point Aviation Road Map- Keyamo

The Director General and Chief Executive Officer of Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), Professor Charles Anosike joined other dignitaries including the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, SAN, at Shehu Musa Yar’adua Centre, Abuja, on Friday, 2nd February, 2024, at the 10th Edition of The Aviation Workers’ Week & Award Nite themed ‘Workers As Strategic Partners In Achieving The Aviation Roadmap’.

Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo has said that Aviation workforce remains critical to achieving government’s 5-point Aviation Road Map.

Keyamo stated this in his address during the 10th Aviation Workers Week in Abuja with the theme: “Workers as Strategic Partners in Achieving the Aviation Road Map’,

In an interview with Journalists on at the event, the minister allayed fears of air price hikes, adding that all local carriers need to do is to be more competitive across foreign routes as he disclosed that the government is doing all it can to being down price of air fares.

“We need to go out of the country to get aircraft for our local operators that they can use to compete in those routes that our BASA have allowed us to compete in,”

“For example, if British Airways has 14 slots coming into Nigeria every week, we should have our local airlines being able to reciprocate 14 slots going in the UK weekly,” he said.

In his welcome address, Comrade Hector Nnadi, Chairman of the Joint Consultative & Negotiation Council, JCNC of the Aviation Ministry, assured of Workers’ unalloyed support towards achieving the Aviation Road Map.

He noted that it is not a coincidence that this year’s theme intends to focus on Key Performance Index (KPI) and Key Performance Results (KPRs) as may be achieved through workers’ support and collaboration.

“Our loyalty to your planned vision for the Sector is, undoubtedly unwavering. We shall help drive the 5-point Agenda in line with the Renewed Hope mantra of the present Government”, Hector concluded.
