HUMAN RIGHTS WRITERS ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA (HURIWA), has stated that since the attacks of strategic National security assets and institutions have perdured and become heightened beyond tolerance level, the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria President Muhammadu Buhari needs to prove his non-complicity and non-collusion in the perpetuation of insecurity in the Igbo states by ordering the immediate arrest and prosecution for possible collusion and complicity of all relevant internal security heads located in the South East states whereby such violence have continued.

HURIWA specifically condemned the deliberate and orchestrated dearth of capacity to crush the armed insurrectionists paid to destroy the economic and political life of Enugu and South Eastern States with a view to condemning the Igbo speaking States to the backyards of political progress towards 2023 elections just as the Rights group said the specific targeting of the offices of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Enugu is a symbolic agenda to demonstrate that the old Eastern regional capital is unstable and thereby the largest concentration of Igbo speaking persons of voting age without the Permanent Voter Cards won’t be able to enlist to obtain the vital Electoral documents to enable the Igbos exercise their democratic and civic rights during the elections next year. HURIWA predicted if no such radical steps are taken and the governors set up transparent and accountable VIGILANTE involving all stakeholders in the South East, then these foreign forces destroying assets of Igbo States will up their game to deny Igbos of votes in 2023 and participation in the Census which is programmed to favour a phantom high population in the North.

HURIWA said it is convinced that the attackers and those funding the sophisticated attacks in Enugu and other South East states are members of the deep State from the federal capital territory connected to MIYETTI ALLAH CATTLE OWNERS ASSOCIATION whose only aim is to destabilise the Igbo speaking states even as the group said the inability of all the security institutions based in the South East and controlled from Abuja not to arrest and end these vicious circles of attacks means that there is more to it than the ordinary eyes can see therefore necessitating that President Muhammadu Buhari should adopt a radical decision by arresting any police commissioner, Director of DSS, and the General Officer Commsnding the 82 Army Division in Enugu for alleged complicity since it is humanly impossible for such massive scales of criminality and crimes to last more than two years with no breakthrough on the side of the law enforcement agencies. HURIWA said the attacks un the North West were remarkably different from that of the South East because in the North West there are known armed Fulani terrorists but in the South East most of those terrorists are simply classified comically as unknown gunmen making it look like a huge joke whereas the attacks are deadly.

HURIWA recalled that atleast two persons have been hospitalized after gunmen attacked officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Igboeze North Local Government Area of Enugu State. INEC Chairman, Information, Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye, confirmed the development in a statement on Thursday. He said two voter registration machines were damaged by the assailants during the attack

The Rights group quotes INEC as revealing that the officers were attacked while on the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise at a Community Primary School Umuopu in Umuozzi Ward 19 in Enugu State even as he disclosed that the gunmen fired sporadically into the air to disperse registrants and registration officials. In the ensuing stampede, one of our staff sustained injuries and is receiving treatment in a hospital,” the statement read. Two voter registration machines and personal items of the staff such as mobile phones were lost.consequently, Ward level registration of voters in Igboeze North is hereby suspended. According to Okoye, the Commission has reported the incident to police authorities in Enugu State to commence an investigation.”

HURIWA recalled that similar orchestrated and funded violence from external forces happened not too long ago in Imo State and Anambra State severally thus disrupting the Continuous voters registration in those key Igbo states, a decision the Rights group said was premeditated and prearranged to depopulate the voting strength of Igbo States just as the Rights group said the only way the President Muhammadu Buhari can be exonerated is for him to arrest, prosecute and jail the heads of all the internal security institutions based in South East all of whom see themselves as strangers since they are not indigenes of the affected Igbo speaking States.

HURIWA challenged the governors and political leaders of Igbo states to wake up and take measures to stamp out this well coordinated political violence targeting Igbos. The Righrs group is tasking the Igbo Governors to confront the security threats as a common regional threats and confront the terrorists in a United format because unity gives strength.
