An All Progressive Congress (APC), stalwart, Okoi Obono-Obla Esq. has disclosed that the Party has appointed National Leader.
A statement made available to News Dot Africa stated, “Nobody has been appointed National Women Leader.
“It is fake news and propaganda peddled by those with vested interest on the matter.
“It smacks ignorance of the provisions of the Constitution of APC dealing with how to fill a vacant national position.
“When the National Executive Committee of the APC met two days ago the President and National Leader directed the NEC to convene a meeting of the National Working Committee for the purpose of filling vacant national offices. No meeting of the NWC has been convened to fill these vacant national offices including the office of National Women Leader.
Section 31 (5) of the the All Progressives Congress APC) constitution stipulates thus;
“In the case of a National/Zonal Officer, the State Executive Committee shall propose a replacement to the State Congress and Zonal Committee for endorsement.”
He said, the name shall be sent to the National Working Committee, which shall forward same to the National Executive Committee for approval.
“To the best of my knowledge the APC Cross River State, State Executive Committee has not proposed a replacement of the position of National Women Leader to the State Congress yet.
“In other words, when the State Executive Committee of the APC proposes a replacement for the vacant position of the National Women Leader; the State Congress shall be convened and the name of the proposed replacement presented before it for its approval.
After that the name shall be forwarded to the NEC for its approval.
No such thing has happened yet.
When a law has laid down the procedure for doing of something that procedure must religiously be adhere and followed.
Any departure from such a procedure will render done pursuance to that null and void”, he further clarified.
