Ambassador-Designate Angela Adebayo Assumes Duty in Portugal, Vows to Deepen Nigeria-Portugal Ties

Nigeria’s Ambassador-Designate to the Republic of Portugal, Her Excellency Erelu Angela Adebayo, has arrived in Lisbon to formally begin her diplomatic assignment, with a pledge to strengthen the longstanding relationship between Nigeria and Portugal.

The envoy, accompanied by her spouse, Adebayo Richard Adeniyi, was welcomed on arrival by Dr. Luis dos Santos, a representative of the Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She was also received by officials of the Embassy of Nigeria in Portugal, led by Mr. Haruna Musa, as well as representatives of the Nigerian community in Portugal.

Addressing those who received her, Ambassador-Designate Adebayo expressed gratitude for the warm reception and hospitality extended to her by the Portuguese authorities, embassy officials, and members of the Nigerian community.

She reaffirmed her commitment to advancing Nigeria’s diplomatic and bilateral engagements with Portugal, stressing her determination to promote stronger cooperation and mutually beneficial partnerships during her tenure.

Her assumption of duty is expected to further consolidate diplomatic, economic, and cultural relations between Nigeria and Portugal.
