Aero Contractors, Nigeria’s oldest aviation company has today received two Airbus 320 from Heston airline based in Lithuania

The two aircraft arrived Abuja this aftemoon and was immediately received at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja by the Managing Director of the airine, Capt Abdullahi Mahmood, along with other senior executives of the airline.

Speaking to Journalists, Capt Mahmood whose was said, “We are pleased to secure these two aircraft through House of Five As which will boost our fleet and give us the needed capacity in the Nigerian market, while malung us more efficient and offer more .comfort to our customers. These new generation aircraft are suitable to our operations in this market.

“We have establistied an excellent relationship with the lessors and the financier ard we are looking forward te a stronger relationship between both parties.

Aero Contractors is currently in Recervership by the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON)

Captain Mahmood was appointed Managing Director of Aero Contractors in January to build on the success of his predecessor Captain Ado Sanusi Under nine months he has strengthened the arine, expanding the frontiers of the Maintenance Repair Overhaul (MRQ) arm of the company and Jacreasing tts capacity to maintam more aircraft

Also speaking, Capt. Ado Sanusi, former Managing Director of Aero, said he is happy to see increased capacity in the aviation sector, adding that it is a thing of joy to see the oldest airline in the country coming out strong.

Sanusi, who called for more collaboration among the airlines, noted that collaboration is the future of the aviation industry.

Cutting of cake in celebration of the event

While noting that the capacity increase is coming at the right time as the festive season is approaching, he urged the financier to keep investing in aviation, stating also that “we will like to have Nigerian investors investing in the aviation sector”.

In a brief remark, Dr. Harold Demuren, former DG,Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), disclosed that Aero Contractors has gone through a lot, but is now on the part of recovery, and that needs to be supported.

He stated that Public-Private Partnership (PPP) is very important in the aviation sector, and urged Aero to work to be safe and efficient so that passengers can get value for money.

For his part Captain Elisha Bahago, who represented the DG, NCAA Captain Musa Nuhu, congratulated Aero Contractors for the addition, noting that falling is normal but rising is the most important.

“I can say Aero has been tested and now we can see how it is coming up. The NCAA will give you all the support you need to fly safely”, he remarked.

While urging the airline to reduce the stress attributed with traveling in the aviation industry, he welcomed the investor and pledged that NCAA will do all it can to ensure that they meet up with the obligation the financier has entered with Aero.

Recall that Captain Mahmood was appointed Managing Director of Aero Contractors in January to build on the success of his predecessor Captain Ado Sanusi. Under nine months he has strengthened the airline, expanding the frontiers of the Maintenance Repair Overhaul (MRO), arm of the company and increasing its capacity to maintain more aircraft.
