State Correspondent

Abuja, April 21, 2026 — The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) has announced plans to host the maiden edition of the Agricultural Mechanization for Export-Quality Products in Africa (AGROMEQA EXPO 2026), a major initiative aimed at transforming Nigeria’s agricultural sector through technology, investment, and export-oriented production.

Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja, ACCI President, Emeka Obegolu, said the Expo is a collaborative effort between the Chamber, the Agricultural Trade Group, and JMT Plus Farms and Agro-Allied to reposition agriculture for improved productivity, value addition, and global competitiveness.

The two-day event is scheduled to take place from June 10 to 11, 2026, at the Prince Adetokunbo Kayode Trade and Convention Centre in Abuja, under the theme: “Technology and Investment for Agro-Export.”

Obegolu described AGROMEQA EXPO 2026 as a “premier continental platform” designed to promote agricultural mechanisation, strengthen export-quality production systems, and attract sustainable investments across the agribusiness value chain.

A key highlight of the Expo will be the official declaration by Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, while the President of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, Jani Ibrahim, is expected to deliver the keynote address focusing on agricultural exports and the role of private capital.

The event will convene a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including policymakers, agribusiness investors, technology providers, research institutions, farmers’ associations, development partners, and financial institutions.

According to the organisers, AGROMEQA EXPO 2026 will feature exhibitions of modern agricultural technologies such as mechanised equipment, precision farming tools, irrigation systems, agro-processing innovations, and climate-smart solutions. The programme will also include plenary sessions, technical workshops, and business-to-business engagements aimed at fostering partnerships, mobilising capital, and encouraging technology transfer.

Beyond exhibitions, the Expo will function as a strategic investment marketplace, linking local producers and agritech innovators with investors interested in mechanisation, processing, logistics, and export operations. A live demonstration arena and a dedicated agro-processing and packaging platform are also planned, alongside a Schools’ Agro Exhibition and Competition to promote youth participation in agriculture.

Obegolu emphasised that the initiative aligns with Nigeria’s priorities on food security, economic diversification, and export-led growth, noting that enhanced mechanisation and innovation are critical to unlocking the sector’s full potential.

He called on government ministries, departments and agencies, private sector players, development partners, and the international community to actively participate in the event, stressing that collaboration and investment are essential for sustainable agricultural transformation.

The ACCI President also urged the media to provide extensive coverage, expressing confidence that the Expo would emerge as a flagship agricultural event in West Africa, driving investment, innovation, and long-term sectoral growth.

Interested participants and partners have been advised to contact the ACCI Secretariat for further inquiries.
