ABBF Clarifies NACCIMA Webinar Disclaimer, Reaffirms Commitment to Nigeria-Bangladesh Trade

ABUJA — The Africa Bangladesh Business Forum (ABBF) has clarified issues surrounding a public disclaimer issued by the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) over a proposed webinar on trade and investment between Nigeria and Bangladesh.
ABBF said the clarification became necessary following NACCIMA’s statement distancing itself from the webinar titled “Trade and Investment Between Nigeria and Bangladesh,” which was proposed for August 31, 2026.
The Forum explained that the proposed engagement is part of its broader efforts to promote trade, investment and business partnerships between Africa and Bangladesh.
ABBF said it remains committed to working with legitimate business institutions, chambers of commerce, government agencies and private-sector organisations to create opportunities for businesses in Nigeria and Bangladesh.
The organisation, which describes itself as a trade facilitation and investment promotion platform, said its activities include business matchmaking, market-entry support, trade events and institutional partnerships.
According to ABBF, its objective is not to misrepresent or undermine NACCIMA, but to encourage stronger institutional collaboration in promoting bilateral trade and investment.
The clarification follows reports that an individual involved in the proposed webinar had introduced himself as a coordinator of NACCIMA for Asian businesses, a claim which prompted the chamber to issue its disclaimer.
ABBF maintained that any misunderstanding arising from the description of individuals or institutional affiliations should not detract from the broader objective of strengthening Nigeria-Bangladesh commercial relations.
The Forum further noted that it is already developing business platforms connecting Bangladeshi exporters with Nigerian buyers, investors and distributors, with Nigeria identified as a major market for Bangladesh-Africa trade.
ABBF said it welcomes constructive engagement with NACCIMA and other Nigerian business organisations, stressing that collaboration among credible institutions remains critical to expanding bilateral commerce.
The Forum is also scheduled to host the Africa Bangladesh Trade Show & Business Summit – Nigeria 2026, bringing together exporters, importers, investors, business leaders and other stakeholders to explore trade and investment opportunities between Bangladesh and African markets.
ABBF reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, institutional respect and responsible business engagement as it continues efforts to build stronger economic ties between Nigeria and Bangladesh.
