The High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Nigeria, H.E. Mr. Miah Md. Mainul Kabir, has paid an official visit to the Director-General of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), Mr. Charles Odii, to explore opportunities for strengthening economic relations between the two countries through strategic collaboration in the small and medium enterprises (SME) sector.
The meeting, held at SMEDAN’s headquarters, brought together the Director of the D-8 SME Centre in Nigeria and senior officials of the agency.
Discussions centred on building stronger economic ties between Bangladesh and Nigeria by promoting cooperation in SME development, leveraging the countries’ shared demographic strengths, enhancing trade frameworks, and facilitating knowledge-sharing.
The engagement also provided an opportunity to explore areas of mutual interest that could support the growth of small businesses, encourage cross-border trade, and strengthen economic collaboration between both countries.
Through strategic partnerships and the exchange of expertise, Nigeria and Bangladesh are expected to identify opportunities for improving the competitiveness of their SMEs and expanding their contributions to economic development.
The visit underscores the importance of international cooperation in advancing SME growth, fostering trade relations, and creating opportunities for entrepreneurs in both countries.
SMEDAN plays a key role in promoting and developing micro, small and medium enterprises in Nigeria, while partnerships with international stakeholders can provide avenues for knowledge exchange, institutional collaboration, and access to broader markets.
