Nigeria’s high jump record holder, Temitope Adeshina, has sponsored the women’s high jump event at the forthcoming Athletic Heat 10th Anniversary Meet, committing ₦200,000 in prize money to reward outstanding performances and encourage emerging athletes.
The competition is scheduled for Saturday, November 7, 2026, at the YabaTech Stadium in Lagos as part of activities marking a decade of Athletic Heat’s contribution to athletics development.
Under the sponsorship arrangement, the top four finishers in the women’s high jump will share the ₦200,000 prize purse. The winner will receive ₦100,000, while the second-place finisher will earn ₦50,000. The third- and fourth-place finishers will receive ₦30,000 and ₦20,000, respectively.
Adeshina’s initiative reflects her commitment to supporting emerging talents and creating opportunities for young athletes to showcase their abilities while competing for financial rewards.
The Nigerian star is coming off an impressive 2026 season in which she won both the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor High Jump titles for Texas Tech Track & Field, further strengthening her profile on the international athletics stage.
A Commonwealth Games bronze medallist and two-time African Championships silver medallist, Adeshina has continued to represent Nigeria in international competitions while inspiring aspiring high jumpers.
Her sponsorship is expected to provide additional motivation for athletes participating in the anniversary meet and highlight the importance of established sports personalities giving back to the development of their disciplines.
The Athletic Heat 10th Anniversary Meet will celebrate the competition’s decade-long journey and its role in promoting athletics and providing a platform for emerging talents.
Athletes interested in participating have been encouraged to register through A3 Tickets.
The event will be held under the theme, “10 Years of Impact. A Legacy That Keeps Running.”
The announcement was contained in a press release signed by Maxwell Kumoye, Chairman of the Media Committee of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), on October 11, 2026.
