The Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) has received the 2026 Pillar of Integrity in Public Service Award from Verbatim Magazine in recognition of its commitment to ethics, transparency and accountability in public service.
The award was presented to the Corporation’s Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Thompson Oludare Sunday, who was represented by the Head of Communication and Public Affairs, Ms. Hawwau Gambo, at the 2026 Verbatim Awards held in Abuja.
The event was organised by Verbatim Print & Broadcast Limited in partnership with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
The NDIC earned the recognition following its emergence as second overall in the 2025 Ethics and Integrity Compliance Scorecard (EICS) conducted by the ICPC.
The EICS is an integrity-assessment framework developed by the ICPC to promote ethical standards, accountability and anti-corruption practices across Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of the Federal Government.
The assessment covers four major areas: Management Culture and Structure, Financial Management System, Administrative Systems, and Anti-Corruption Initiatives.
The Chairman of the ICPC, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, represented at the ceremony by the Director, Systems Study and Review Department, Mr. Olusegun Adigun, delivered the keynote address titled, “The Power of Integrity in National Development: Strengthening Public Institutions, Restoring Trust and Driving Prosperity.”
Receiving the award on behalf of the NDIC, Gambo commended Verbatim Print & Broadcast Limited for recognising the Corporation’s performance based on the ICPC’s independently validated integrity scorecard.
She reaffirmed the NDIC’s commitment to maintaining high standards of transparency, accountability and ethical governance in the discharge of its statutory mandates.
According to her, the Corporation remains focused on its responsibilities of deposit guarantee, bank supervision in collaboration with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), failure resolution and bank liquidation.
Gambo said the recognition reflected the Corporation’s sustained efforts to strengthen stakeholder confidence and uphold professionalism in the discharge of its responsibilities.
She added that the award would further encourage the NDIC to deepen compliance with the highest standards of professionalism, excellence, transparency and public trust.
The recognition comes as the NDIC continues its efforts to protect depositors, strengthen confidence in the banking system and contribute to the stability of Nigeria’s financial system.
