TCN Begins Repairs as Fault Disrupts Power Supply on Kumbotso–Dan Agundi Line

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Kano Region, has commenced repairs on the 132kV Kumbotso–Dan Agundi Line 1 following a forced outage triggered by an earth fault during heavy rainfall and strong winds.
The incident occurred at about 10:05 p.m. on Monday, September 22, 2026, resulting in a system trip and interruption of bulk power supply along the transmission line.
According to TCN, the affected line was immediately isolated to enable its maintenance team to conduct a comprehensive patrol and locate the source of the fault.
The patrol, completed on Tuesday, September 23, led to the discovery of a tilted cross-arm and a snapped conductor at two separate locations between Towers T707 and T708.
TCN said the affected cross-arm must first be removed and reinstalled before the necessary repairs to the transmission line can be completed.
To reduce the impact of the outage on electricity consumers and commercial areas across Kano Metropolis, the company said it had successfully transferred the allocated loads from the 33kV feeders at the 132kV Dan Agundi Transmission Substation to other available 132kV substations within the Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) franchise area.
The transmission company assured affected consumers that repair work was ongoing and that efforts were being made to restore normal bulk power supply as soon as possible.
TCN apologised to electricity consumers for the inconvenience caused by the forced outage and appealed for their understanding while the repair works continue.
