TCN Rehabilitates Four Vandalised Towers on Afam-Elelenwo 132kV Line
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has commenced rehabilitation of four transmission towers vandalised along the Afam-IPP–Elelenwo 132kV Double-Circuit Transmission Line in Rivers State.

TCN said the vandalism was discovered on August 6, 2026, by its lines engineers from the Port Harcourt Region.
According to the company, Towers T50, T51, T52 and T53 were affected after critical tower members were removed and carted away by vandals.

The latest incident marks the fifth reported vandalism attack on the transmission line in recent times, raising concerns over the safety and reliability of electricity transmission infrastructure in the area.

TCN said rehabilitation work is currently ongoing to restore the affected towers and safeguard the integrity of the transmission line.

The company urged stakeholders, including host communities and relevant security agencies, to support efforts to prevent further attacks on transmission infrastructure.
“TCN enjoins all stakeholders to join hands to curb the menace that is threatening the stability of the national grid,” the company said in a statement signed by its management on September 21, 2026.

TCN reiterated the importance of protecting transmission facilities, noting that vandalism of critical infrastructure can disrupt electricity transmission and undermine the stability of the national grid.
