Nigeria, Kenya Deepen Bilateral Relations as High Commissioner Presents Credentials to Ruto

Nigeria and Kenya have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations following the presentation of Letters of Credence by Nigeria’s newly accredited High Commissioner to Kenya, Danlami Ibrahim, to President William Samoei Ruto.
The ceremony took place at State House, Nairobi, on September 8, 2026.
During the presentation, Ibrahim conveyed the warm greetings and best wishes of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to President Ruto, the Kenyan Government and people.
The Nigerian envoy reaffirmed Abuja’s commitment to deepening the longstanding relationship between the two countries and expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, priority areas identified for enhanced bilateral cooperation include agriculture, energy, financial services, creative industries, the blue economy, security and counter-terrorism.
Ibrahim also reiterated Nigeria’s readiness to strengthen collaboration with Kenya at the multilateral level.
Nigeria and Kenya maintain longstanding historical, political, economic and people-to-people ties, with both countries playing significant roles in their respective regional organisations.
The two countries have also continued to share interests in promoting global peace and security, sustainable development, democracy, good governance, stability and economic integration across Africa.
The Federal Government said the strong relationship between Nigeria and Kenya provides a foundation for exploring new avenues of cooperation and translating the longstanding friendship between the two countries into tangible benefits for their citizens.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Nigeria remains committed to working with the Kenyan Government to consolidate bilateral relations and advance the shared aspirations of both countries.
