CHIDI NKEM ARUOMA: The Bridge Builder for Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South
Oru Leonard
A CONSTITUENCY FIRST MAN
Chidi Nkem Aruoma is not coming to Abuja to learn on the job. He is coming to work. With deep roots across Ikwuano, Umuahia North, and Umuahia South, he understands the daily reality of the farmer in Olokoro, the trader in Ubani, and the youth in Ibere. His life’s work has been connecting people, capital, and opportunity. That is exactly what our Federal Constituency needs now.
PRIVATE SECTOR POWER, PUBLIC SECTOR EXPERIENCE
As Immediate Past President of UCCIMA, Nkem-Aruoma defended Abia businesses at the highest tables. He has sat as Secretary General of the Nigeria Israel Business Forum and Regional Partner for the African-American Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He knows how to attract investors, negotiate deals, and bring money back home. Politics without prosperity is empty, and Nkem-Aruoma brings both.
A GLOBAL NETWORK FOR LOCAL RESULTS
From co-founding the Nigeria Bangladesh Business and Technological Forum to serving as Vice President of the Nigeria Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce, Chidi has built bridges from Umuahia to Dhaka, Tel Aviv, and Washington. As Co-founder of Poland-Nigeria Business Future, he is already opening new corridors for SMEs, tech transfer, and skills exchange. Imagine that network working for Umuahia roads, Ikwuano agro-processing, and youth startups.
EDUCATION AND HUMAN CAPITAL
Nkem-Aruoma served on the Board of Abia State Educational Trust Fund. He is also Founder of Umuahia Business School and Royal Film Institute. His focus is simple: give our children skills that pay bills. In the House, he will push for upgraded federal technical schools, scholarship pipelines, and partnerships with foreign institutes so our graduates are export-ready.
WATER, WASTE, AND WORKING INFRASTRUCTURE
He was once a Board Member of Abia State Water and Waste Management Board. He knows why taps run dry and why drains clog. At the National Assembly, he will prioritize constituency projects that fix water reticulation, sanitation, and erosion control across the three LGAs, with transparent tracking you can see.
CULTURE IS COMMERCE
As former PRO of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, South East Coordinator of the Nigerian Film Institute, and Founder of Abia State Theatre Arts Practitioners, Nkem-Aruoma sees Nollywood as an economic engine. He will lobby for a Federal Creative Hub in Umuahia, film tax incentives, and equipment grants so our stories create jobs and our youths become employers.
GRASSROOTS POLITICAL EXPERIENCE
Nkem-Aruoma was once DOP, Umuahia South LGA, and Assistant Secretary of PDP, Umuahia South LGA. He also served as SA to Governor T.A. Orji on Local Government. He understands party structure, council administration, and how federal policy meets village reality. He was the Chairman of his village for 6 years. He is the Traditional Chief of his community, a cabinet member of His Eze’s Cabinet. That blend means fewer abandoned projects and more completed ones.
ROTARY SERVICE, COMMUNITY HEART
A member of Rotary Club, Umuahia Central, Chidi’s service ethic is tested. Rotary projects focus on health, literacy, and community development. Expect a legislative agenda that funds primary healthcare upgrades, women’s vocational centers, and rural electrification pilots.
AGRICULTURE AND AGRO-INDUSTRIALIZATION
Ikwuano is an agricultural belt. With his Chamber of Commerce background and Founder role in UVOMA Chamber of Commerce, Chidi will push for federal agro-processing clusters, cold storage, and market linkages. Farmers should not produce and cry. They should produce, process, and profit.
YOUTH AND SKILLS, NOT JUST RHETORIC
Unemployment is not a slogan, it is a crisis. Nkem-Aruoma’s film, business, and tech forums give him a blueprint: apprenticeship-to-enterprise models, startup seed funds through federal agencies, and digital skills bootcamps sited in Umuahia North, South, and Ikwuano.

SECURITY THROUGH OPPORTUNITY
Idle hands create problems. Productive hands build communities. By expanding SME access to finance, technical training, and export markets, Nkem-Aruoma’s plan addresses insecurity at the root. A busy youth is a hopeful youth.
ACCOUNTABILITY YOU CAN TRACK
Having managed boards and chambers, Nkem-Aruoma knows governance records matter. He proposes quarterly Constituency Town Halls, published project scorecards, and a citizen monitoring portal for all federal interventions in the constituency.
WOMEN AND SMEs AT THE CENTER
UVOMA Chamber of Commerce was founded to amplify entrepreneurs, especially women. In Abuja, he will champion increased NASS oversight of CBN and SMEDAN intervention funds to ensure Umuahia and Ikwuano women get real access, not just press releases.
DIASPORA CAPITAL FOR HOME GROWTH
As Regional Partner with the African-American Chamber, Nkem-Aruoma can mobilize diaspora direct investment into housing, health, and tech. We will create a Constituency Diaspora Desk to match investors with bankable projects here at home. He brought the Ambassadors of Indonesia and Vietnam to Abia state on a state visit. He is part of bringing Tunisian Business men for business meetings in Abuja Nigeria. He has led many delegations to Tunisia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Turkey, China, Russia, Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria, Italy, Portugal, Holland, Belgium, Bangladesh, India. He is the Regional coordinator of the Afro Asian Business Promotion Council.
HEALTH AND SOCIAL WELFARE
From Rotary to Educational Trust Fund experience, his lens is preventive and practical. He will advocate for equipping federal health centers, sponsoring NHIS coverage for vulnerable families, and mobile health outreaches in hard-to-reach wards.
INFRASTRUCTURE THAT CONNECTS MARKETS
Markets need roads, and roads need maintenance. Nkem-Aruoma will prioritize federal road rehabilitation that links farm clusters to Umuahia city, and push for rural feeder roads that reduce post-harvest losses.
TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION
The Nigeria Bangladesh Tech Forum and Umuahia Business School show his bias for innovation. Expect bills and motions to attract ICT parks, coding academies, and federal broadband support for our tertiary institutions.
LEGISLATIVE CRAFT, NOT NOISE
Nkem-Aruoma’s background is negotiation, not confrontation for its own sake. He will sponsor and co-sponsor bills that unlock funding: the Small Business Growth Act, Creative Industry Development Act, and Water Security Intervention for Southeastern constituencies.
UNITY ACROSS THE THREE LGAs
Ikwuano, Umuahia North, and Umuahia South must rise together. Nkem-Aruoma’s cross-sector roles have forced him to build coalitions. He will ensure project spread is fair, visible, and felt in every clan, not concentrated in one corner.
THE CHOICE BEFORE US
Experience matters. Networks matter. Results matter. Chidi Nkem Aruoma brings a rare mix: business builder, cultural investor, former government insider, and community servant. If we want a Federal Representative who opens doors in Abuja and delivers dividends at home, he is the option to consider.
