Amb Ahmed Arrives New Dehi As Nigeria Participates in BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in India

The Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Ambassador Dunoma Umar Ahmed, PhD, has arrived in New Delhi, India, to represent the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, at the ongoing BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting.
The high-level meeting is taking place on May 14 and 15, 2026, at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, where foreign ministers and senior diplomats are deliberating on key global issues, including economic cooperation, reforms in global governance, and regional conflicts.
The meeting is being chaired by India’s External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar, as part of preparations for the 18th BRICS Summit scheduled to hold later this year.
Nigeria’s participation underscores the country’s growing engagement with emerging global economic and diplomatic platforms, as discussions continue among BRICS member nations and partners on strengthening multilateral cooperation and addressing shared international challenges.
