The race for promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) reaches a dramatic climax today as Northern Conference D of the Nigeria National League (NNL) concludes with high-stakes fixtures across venues.

Kaduna-based Ranchers Bees headline the decisive round, standing on the brink of a historic achievement. The newly formed club, co-owned by Super Eagles striker Sadiq Umar, could secure a first-ever promotion to the NPFL in their debut NNL campaign. A draw in their final fixture at Pantami Stadium will be enough to seal qualification.

However, the outcome carries significant consequences for Gombe United. A favorable result for Ranchers Bees would confirm Gombe’s relegation to the Nationwide League One, Nigeria’s third-tier division. The development would mark a steep decline for the club, which competed in the top flight as recently as the 2023/2024 season, underlining the unpredictable nature of football fortunes.

In Dutse, another promotion contender, Jigawa Golden Stars, face a must-win encounter against Kebbi United. The former top-flight side, also known as the Samba Boys, must secure all three points and hope for a slip from Ranchers Bees to snatch the lone promotion ticket.
Kebbi United, meanwhile, have their own survival battle to fight, with relegation fears adding further tension to what promises to be a fiercely contested match.

Heading into the final round, Ranchers Bees top the standings with 20 points, followed by Jigawa Golden Stars on 18 points. Gombe United sit seventh with 12 points, while Kebbi United occupy sixth position with 13 points, setting up a day of decisive permutations.

Ahead of the crucial fixtures, Chief Executive Officer of Toptier Sports Management, Mrs. Chichi Nwoko, called for professionalism and sportsmanship among teams and supporters.

She urged stakeholders to uphold fair play, noting that while results will determine promotion and relegation, conduct on and off the pitch remains vital to the integrity of the game.
With promotion, survival, and pride all on the line, attention now turns to the final whistle: who will secure the coveted NPFL ticket, and who will suffer the heartbreak of relegation?
