FRSC Delivers ₦1.12m Recovered from Fatal Crash to Victim’s Family

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has handed over ₦1.12 million recovered from the scene of a fatal road crash to the family of a deceased victim, reinforcing its commitment to transparency and accountability.

The incident occurred on April 11, 2026, at Idu Village along the Gegu–Abaji route, involving a Toyota Corolla and a Volkswagen Golf. The driver of the Volkswagen, identified as Aliyu Mohammed Bala, sustained critical injuries and later died in hospital despite efforts to save him.

According to the FRSC, its Zebra Team recovered ₦1,120,000 along with other personal belongings from the crash scene during rescue operations. The items were documented in line with standard procedures.

At a formal handover ceremony held on April 20, 2026, at the Command, the Corps returned the recovered cash to the victim’s family. The deceased’s elder brother, Bala Yakubu, received the money on behalf of the family in the presence of witnesses.

The handover was conducted by the Acting Unit Commander, Chief Route Commander Ojonugwa E. Ejah, alongside other senior officials.

Commenting on the development, FRSC Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, described the gesture as a reflection of the Corps’ dedication to ethical conduct and accountability. He also extended condolences to the family of the deceased, praying for the repose of his soul.
The FRSC reiterated its resolve to uphold professionalism and integrity in all its operations, especially in handling victims’ property during rescue missions.
