Barrister Abana Resumes Work as Acting Chairman, Fiscal Responsibility Commission

The new Acting Chairman of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission (FRC), Barrister Charles Chukwuemeka Abana, has formally resumed duties, issuing clear directives to Heads of Directorates to ensure that all staff members are fully engaged through structured schedules and defined assignments.

Barrister Abana, the Commission’s most senior Director prior to his appointment, underscored that leadership is a shared responsibility. He stressed that the effective implementation of the Fiscal Responsibility Act depends on teamwork, discipline, and collective commitment across all levels of the Commission.
Addressing staff welfare, he assured employees that management remains responsive to their concerns, including salary-related matters. However, he called for renewed loyalty, professionalism, and dedication in the discharge of official responsibilities.

The Acting Chairman also announced that punctuality and discipline would be strictly enforced under his administration. On capacity development, he clarified that the knowledge-sharing allowance would be granted only to staff who actively participate in mandatory knowledge-sharing sessions, emphasizing that attendance and engagement are prerequisites for eligibility.

Barrister Abana further assured staff that efforts are ongoing to create a more conducive working environment and encouraged all employees to work collaboratively to strengthen the Commission and safeguard its mandate.

In their separate remarks, leaders of the Commission’s two unions congratulated Barrister Abana on his appointment and pledged their full support, reaffirming their commitment to maintaining a harmonious working relationship with management for the advancement of the Commission.
