SGF Senator Akume Strenghtens Federal Policy Coordination Through Strategic Committee Inauguration

By Amb. Musa Muhammad Tsoken

Senator George Akume, in his capacity as Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), has continued to play a central coordination role through the inauguration and supervision of key federal committees. These committees are designed to strengthen policy implementation, improve inter-ministerial collaboration, and ensure that government decisions translate into measurable outcomes. His leadership in this area reflects the constitutional responsibility of the SGF’s office to align the activities of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) with the priorities of the Federal Government.

During this period, the Office of the SGF focused on setting up and activating joint implementation frameworks that support national development goals, including initiatives connected to innovation, capacity building, and governance efficiency. By formally inaugurating such committees, Senator Akume provided them with clear mandates, timelines, and accountability structures, ensuring that policy decisions move beyond planning stages into coordinated execution across relevant MDAs.

Through these actions, Senator Akume reinforced the role of the SGF as the engine room of federal policy coordination. His engagements emphasized institutional discipline, collective responsibility, and results-driven governance, laying the groundwork for smoother implementation of government programmes. This approach supports continuity, reduces duplication of efforts, and strengthens the overall effectiveness of federal administration.
