Beware of Dust Haze in the Northern and Central Zones, and Vloudy Atmospheric in the South- NiMet Warns

The weather outlook issued by NiMet’s Central Forecast Office on 07.12.2025, has precdited that between 08/12/2025 and 10/12/2025 there will be Dust haze and Cloudy Atmosphere.

Day 1: Monday 8th December, 2025.

Northern Region:
Moderate Dust haze with visibility range of 2 – 5km is anticipated over parts of Katsina, Kano, Jigawa,
Gombe, Bauchi, Adamawa, Taraba, Borno and Yobe states while the rest of the region is expected to
experience Slight Dust Haze throughout the forecast period.

Central Region:
Slight Dust haze is anticipated over the region throughout the forecast period.

Southern Region:
Cloudy atmosphere with sunshine intervals is anticipated over the region with chances of isolated
thunderstorms over parts of Cross River and Akwa Ibom states during the morning hours. Later in the day,
isolated thunderstorms with light rains are anticipated over parts of Rivers, Delta, Ondo, Lagos, Edo,
Ogun, Bayelsa, Cross River and Akwa Ibom states.

Day 2: Tuesday 9th December, 2025.
Northern Region:
Moderate Dust haze with visibility range of 2 – 5km is anticipated over the region throughout the forecast
period.

Central Region:
Slight Dust haze is anticipated over the region throughout the forecast period.

Southern Region:
Cloudy atmosphere with sunshine intervals is anticipated over the region with prospects of isolated
thunderstorms over parts of Bayelsa, Rivers, Delta, Cross River and Akwa Ibom states during the
afternoon/evening hours.

Day 3: Wednesday 10th December, 2025.
Northern Region:
Moderate Dust haze with visibility range of 2 – 5km is anticipated over the region throughout the
forecast period.

Central Region:
Moderate Dust haze with visibility range of 2 – 5km is anticipated over the region throughout the
forecast period.

Southern Region:
Cloudy atmosphere is expected over the region during the morning hours. Later in the afternoon/evening
hours, isolated thunderstorms with light rains are anticipated over parts of Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Lagos,
Edo, Ogun and Ondo states.

Advisory

i. Dust particles are in suspension over the Northern region; public should take necessary precaution.
ii. People with Asthmatic health condition and other respiratory issues should be cautious of the present weather condition.
iii. Driving under rain should be with caution.
iv. Airline operators are advised to get airport-specific weather reports (flight documentation) from NiMet for effective planning in their operations.
