FARMFATECH Expo 2025 Kicks Off in Abuja, Focuses on Agricultural Innovation and Food Security

The 2nd Edition of the Farm, Food and Allied Technology (FARMFATECH) Expo 2025 has officially opened in Abuja, Nigeria, with a strong focus on agricultural innovation, mechanization, and food security. The three-day event, themed “New Agro Technologies for Shared Prosperity,” brings together over 500 exhibitors from 76 countries and is expected to welcome an estimated 500,000 visitors.

The expo aims to promote agricultural innovation, mechanization, and food security in Nigeria and beyond.

Speaking, the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Alh. Abubakar Musa, stressed that the Ministry is commited to achieving food security and economic prosperity through innovative technologies and partnerships.  He emphasized the importance of digitalization, technology, and innovation in driving agricultural growth and development.

He noted that to promote agricultural transformation; the Ministry is implementing the National Agricultural Technology and Innovation Policy (NATIP). The Federal Government has also allocated resources to support agricultural infrastructure development, including rural roads, storage facilities, and markets.

The Bank of Agriculture has been recapitalized to the tune of N1.5 trillion to provide affordable credit to farmers, while efforts are ongoing to strengthen the Nigeria Agricultural Insurance Corporation to provide insurance cover and de-risk agricultural investments.

“The Ministry is strongly determined to continue to enhance agricultural productivity through mechanized farming with the recent launching of 2,000 tractors by Mr. President, His Excellency, Bola Anmed Tinubu, the adoption of improved seeds, fertilizers, and irrigation systems, as well as the promotion of climate-resilient agricultural practices. It is heartwarming to note that the development of Agricultural Value Chains to create jobs, stimulate economic growth, and enhance food security has remained a pivotal agenda of government in the agricultural sector including Agro-centric MSMEs”, Alhaji Musa said.

Alh. Musa called on stakeholders to intensify their commitment to achieving accelerated growth and transformation of the agricultural sector, emphasizing the importance of partnerships and collaboration in achieving food security and economic prosperity.

Earlier in his opening speech, Chief Emeka Obegolu, President of ACCI, represented by the ACCI Vice President of Agriculture, Mr Olasetemi Bode Thompson emphasized the importance of agricultural innovation and mechanization in achieving food security and economic prosperity in Nigeria. He urged participants to take advantage of the exhibitions, panel discussions, and networking sessions to explore opportunities and drive growth in the agricultural sector.

In his openning remarks, the chairman FarmFaTech Expo Planning Committee, Mr Tony Ejinkeoye, welcome sponsors a d participants which include, UBA. African Asian Bank, Afrexim Bank, representatives of government ministries and agencies, farmers and innovators,

He noted that Climate change, post-harvest losses, limited access to finance, and outdated practices continue to limit our potential. “This is why FarmFaTech exists — to bridge the gap between innovation and implementation, between the farm and the market, between policy and practice. Our theme for this year, Technology, Finance and Sustainability in Agribusiness, perfectly captures our shared commitment to the future of agriculture.
