Nigeria Extends Sympathies to Cuba, Jamaica, and Haiti After Hurricane Melissa Devastation

The Federal Government of Nigeria has expressed profound sorrow and deep sympathy to the governments and peoples of Cuba, Jamaica, and Haiti following the devastating impact of Hurricane Melissa. The hurricane has caused widespread destruction, severe flooding, and tragic loss of lives and livelihoods in the affected countries.

In a press release signed by the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, the Nigerian government commended the emergency response teams in the affected countries for their swift and courageous efforts in providing relief and saving lives. Nigeria stands in solidarity with the governments and peoples of Cuba, Jamaica, and Haiti during this period of immense adversity and destruction.

The government has extended its heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and wishes a full and speedy recovery to the injured. Nigeria has also called upon the international community and partner organizations to rally in support of the affected countries and provide necessary assistance to help them in their urgent recovery and rebuilding efforts.

The press release concluded with a message of solidarity, stating, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the Government and people of the Republic of Cuba, Haiti, and Jamaica.” This gesture underscores Nigeria’s commitment to South-South cooperation and the enduring bonds of friendship and solidarity with the nations of the Caribbean.
