NVBF MADE A BOLD STEP TO COMBAT CLIMATE CHANGE.

The Nigerian Volleyball Federation (NVBF), recently made a bold move to combat climate change by distributing 35 trees to 35 different volleyball clubs at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja. This initiative, in collaboration with the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), and the Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB), aims to spread awareness and encourage sustainable practices among players and fans.
The FIVB and CAVB, with their global reach, recognize the role of sports in promoting environmental conservation. NVBF, as a member of these organizations, has taken the responsibility to involve all of its clubs and players in this noble cause. The message is clear – it’s time for us to take action and do our part in making a positive impact on our planet.
The Leadership of the National Sports Commission (NSC) said,
Climate change is a pressing issue that affects us all. By planting trees, we can reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and improve air quality. Trees are also essential for regulating the water cycle and preventing soil erosion, thus protecting our environment and resources. “These are just some of the reasons why the federal government of Nigeria is promoting tree planting and encouraging individuals and organizations to take part.”
The Leadership acknowledged that NVBF’s recent tree distribution event is a step in the right direction. By getting the clubs and players involved, they are not only fulfilling their social responsibility but also creating a culture of sustainability within the volleyball community. With each club receiving a tree, the message of environmental conservation will reach a larger audience, and positive actions will be multiplied.
As the president of NVBF, Engineer Musa Nimrod, stated, “When you get back to your home, you are carrying one tree, but make sure if you kill the tree, it’s like you are killing a life.” This statement highlights the importance of nurturing and taking care of the trees that have been entrusted to the athletes. “Trees are not just objects he said; they are living beings with crucial roles to play in our ecosystem. As responsible citizens, it is our duty to ensure their survival.”
In addition to the
environmental benefits, tree planting also brings communities together. By engaging in this activity, we can create a sense of unity and teamwork, just like how a volleyball team works together to achieve a common goal. We can also use this opportunity to educate people about the importance of trees and empower them to take action in their own homes and communities.
Engr. Musa further said, the NVBF has set an excellent example for other sports organizations to follow. By promoting environmental sustainability, they are not only enhancing the reputation of Nigerian volleyball globally but also setting a positive example for future generations. As the saying goes, “we do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.” It is up to us to make sure that we leave a healthy planet for our children and future generations.
In conclusion, the NVBF has taken a significant step towards creating a greener, more sustainable future by distributing trees to 35 volleyball clubs. As a part of the global volleyball community, it is our responsibility to support and contribute to this cause in any way we can. Let us all do our part and join hands to make a positive impact on our planet. Together, we can make a difference.
