Minister of Humanitarian Affairs Hosts New DG. NSCC, Preaches Inclusivity for Senior Citizens

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, has emphasized the importance of inclusivity for senior citizens in Nigeria. This was highlighted during a courtesy visit by the Director General of the National Senior Citizens Centre (NSCC), Hon. Medinat Omobolanle Akinyemi-Obe.
The Minister emphasized the need for inclusivity and social protection for senior citizens, aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Prof. Yilwatda encouraged the NSCC DG to foster intra and inter-ministerial collaborations to better the lives of senior citizens.
“Senior Citizens in Nigeria must be availed a dignified, healthy, happy and secured life to the fullest” the Minister advised.
Speaking earlier, the NSCC DG highlighted her mandate to strengthen the protection of senior citizens’ rights to dignity, independence, care, security, participation, and self-fulfillment.
“With the support of the Minister, the Renewed Hope Agenda’s commitment to social inclusion, recognizing the value of senior citizens in national development will be achieved”, Hon Obe said.
The meeting underscores government’s commitment to promoting the welfare and inclusivity of senior citizens in Nigeria. The collaboration between the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and the NSCC is expected to improve the lives of senior citizens and recognize their contributions to national development.
