At a time when Nigeria is charting a delicate course toward stability and progress, the calls for Senator George Akume’s resignation as Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) have ignited unwarranted distractions.

Rising above the noise, the Global Alliance for Peace and Unity (GAPU), led by its President, Solomon Pevkyaa, has boldly defended Akume, describing him as “the glue holding Nigeria’s engine of governance together.”

Pevkyaa made this known yesterday at a world press conference in Lafia.

Senator Akume, a seasoned administrator, former governor, and distinguished senator, has been instrumental in stabilizing the engine room of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government.

As SGF, he holds a position that demands clarity of mind, strategic thinking, and a profound understanding of governance, a task he has executed with exceptional grace and expertise.

Under his stewardship, the Tinubu administration has witnessed remarkable progress, fostering an environment of peace that has empowered farmers to return to their fields while decisively squashing the threat of banditry.

Senator Akume has consistently demonstrated a deep commitment to ensuring the government’s policies are aligned with the aspirations of Nigerians, cementing his reputation as a unifying figure in the nation’s political landscape.

Describing Akume as “a pillar of peace and progress,” Pevkyaa emphasized that the role of SGF is too sensitive to be jeopardized by baseless agitations. “This is not a time for distractions. Senator Akume has consistently proven himself as a man of integrity and a stabilizer in this administration. His strategic thinking and leadership are what Nigeria needs to ensure seamless governance,” Pevkyaa stated.

While commending President Tinubu for fostering a peaceful atmosphere conducive to development, GAPU urged the administration to continue engaging with the masses before implementing policies to maintain harmony and inclusivity.

The group also passed a vote of confidence in Senator Akume, whom they described as a patriotic leader committed to advancing Nigeria’s unity and development.

The Global Alliance for Peace and Unity called for constructive dialogue and understanding, emphasizing that achieving national peace and prosperity requires collective efforts, free from unnecessary distractions.

As the SGF, Akume’s dedication to a vibrant, secure, and progressive Nigeria remains undebatable, and Nigerians must rally behind leaders who embody the nation’s hope and aspirations.
