Defence Minister Assures of FG’s Commitment to Boosting NAF’s Operational Capacity

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) is poised to strengthen its operational capacity to combat emerging threats, thanks to the Federal Government’s commitment to bolstering its capabilities.

The Honourable Minister of Defence, Dr Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Defence, Dr Ibrahim Kana made this clear during the 2024 NAF Training, Operations, and Safety Seminar, which held on on December 4 & 5, 2024, in Abuja. He also commended the NAF’s leadership under Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar for its proactive posture and decisive action in countering threats such as insurgency, terrorism and banditry through effective utilization of newly acquired assets and platforms

The NAF has made significant strides in restoring stability to the Northeast and other parts of the country, thanks to its proactive posture and decisive action in countering threats such as insurgency, terrorism, and banditry. The Service’s leadership, under Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, has been commended for its efforts in effectively utilizing newly acquired assets and platforms.

Areas of focus include: 

Enhancing Safety and Optimizing NAF Air Operations: The Seminar emphasizes the critical role of safety, advanced training, and innovation in addressing Nigeria’s evolving security challenges.
Strengthening Training and Operations: The NAF is committed to developing and implementing policies to ensure that its operations are conducted in a safe environment.
Modernizing the NAF: The Service has acquired 12 advanced aircraft over the past year, including KA-360i and DA-62 planes, as well as T-129 ATAK and AW-109 Trekker helicopters.

The Seminar brought together experts to deliberate on key strategies to optimize NAF operations and enhance safety measures. With the Federal Government’s commitment to bolstering the NAF’s capabilities, the Service is poised to play an even more critical role in addressing Nigeria’s security challenges.
