Federal Ministry of Sports Development in Nigeria is taking proactive steps to review and improve the country’s performance at the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. On Tuesday, September 24, 2024, the Ministry will convene a post-games audit and review meeting at the Media Centre, Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, starting at 11 am.
Meeting Attendees:
– Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) and Paralympic Committee of Nigeria (PCN), representatives
– Presidents, Secretary Generals, Technical Directors, and Coaches of the 12 Olympic and 4 Paralympic sports
– Ministerial Podium Performance Committee members
– Heads of Technical Departments of the Ministry
Additionally, the Ministry has established a 7-member investigative committee to address the negative exposures Nigeria faced during the Games. The committee, chaired by Dr. Mumuni Alao, comprises representatives from various regions:
– Dr. Mumuni Alao (South West) – Chairman
– Aliyu Mohammed (North West) – Member
– Hajia Rakiya Muhammed (North Central) – Member
– Godwin Enakhena (South South) – Member
– Dr. Abubakar Ango (North East) – Member
– Christy Opara (South East) – Member
– Barr. Victor Okangbe (South South) – Secretary.
A statement signed by the Director (Information and PR), Mrs Kehinde Ajayi disclosed that the committee will be inaugurated on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at 11 am at the Media Centre, MKO Abiola Stadium Package A, Abuja, where their terms of reference will be disclosed.
