NDD 2023: Tinubu to Address Nigerians On National Diaspora Day

Nigeria will celebrate 2023, 17th Annual National Diaspora Day (NDD) and the fifth in the series since the establishment of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), in May 2019.

President and Commander in-Chief
of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu will also participate in the the National Diaspora Day to celebrate and recognize the contributions of Nigerians in the Diaspora to national development.

The Chairman/CEO, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, made this know at a press conference held on Wednesday 19th July, 2023 at the Presidential Villa Abuja.

According to Erewa, the theme of the event is,“Consolidating Diaspora Engagement for National
Development”.

“Nigeria, as a nation, is blessed with rich and diverse diaspora population, worldwide. These individuals; our Nigerian brothers and sisters; men and women living abroad, possess immense potential as catalyst and contributors to our national development.” Erewa added.

Erewa disclosed that the 2023 Diaspora National Day celebration, would include a Diaspora merit award on the 26th July while the main programme include presidential address, celebrity interview, panel discussions and lots more will be on the 25th of July

NiDCOM boss who stressed the importance of data said, “Nigerians abroad should register on the NiDCOM portal to avoid the Sudan experience where lots of Nigerian students were not captured due to inadequate data gotten

She assured that the 2- days celebration will continue to linger on in the minds of all the stakeholder even after it has passed

In commemoration of the National Diaspora Day, representatives of Nigerians Diaspora Community from Europe, NIDO UK South, Hungary, Italy etc are set to donate medical equipment to hospitals, support to different NGOs, orphanages, school for the blind, among others.
