Transportation Minister Commissions Abuja Zonal Office, NIMASA

The Honorable Minister of Transportation, Honorable Mu’azu Jaji Sambo on Tuesday, 16th May 2023, commissioned NIMASA Zonal office in Abuja at Diplomatic Zone of Central District Area Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

He appreciates Almighty God for keeping him, The president and the vice president of Nigeria nation for their support in approving the procurement of the new office and enabling him fulfill the promise he had made to the DG, NIMASA some months back at Lagos when they pledged that whenever NIMASA acquires a property in Abuja, it will be named after the Late Otunba Olakunle Afolarin for his achievements in the Maritime industry.

Honorable Mu’azu Jaji Sambo who was delighted to commission the new office in Abuja said there is a strong need to put in place a strategic and tangible structure that will yield quantifiable dividends in years to come.

He assured that the acquisition of the new office where there is no ocean is not to fulfill another bureaucratic justification, but due to the responsibilities and functions that the zonal office played in discharging NIMASA’s mandate and also due to the strategic role it plays too it then becomes imperative to establish a permanent station to promote and enhance productivity and to avoid unnecessary restricting and limiting factors.

He added that apart from the reduction in cost of governance, the new Abuja zonal office will serve as center piece of government relation on matters with bilateral and multilateral implications on International trade and cooperation as such enable the agency to host foreign diplomats and other key Maritime Stakeholders in the federal capital Territory.

This will help the agency speedily achieve its mandate especially in reaching the three arms of government which usually happen on daily basis.

All this factors has led to the acquisition of the Abuja zonal office and serves as they are further prove of growth in capacity of the Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency due to it role in economy of Nigeria.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transportation, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the Director General/CEO, Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, Dr. Bashir Yusuf and other dignitaries expressed their happiness towards the success, development and great achievements of NIMASA.
