End of the road for suspected IPOB members on Calabar

The Police in Cross River State, Nigeria yesterday paraded 3 persons suspected to be members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), in Calabar alongside a Village Head and others.
Weapons recovered from the suspects are four Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), two explosive chemicals, five AK-47 riffles, two hundred live ammunition, one pump action and several locally made pistols and Dane guns.
The Commissioner of Police in Cross River State, CP Sule Balarabe, while parading the suspects said they were arrested at Bebe III community in Obanliku while planning to carry out their criminal activities.
Balarabe said: “Based on the strength of the information we received, the military in collaboration with the Anti-Kidnapping Squad swung into action and arrested 3 suspects. They are Richard Ukehad 29, Esther Asado 29, and Chief Isaac Ebebe 44.
They equally led the team to their camp where 2 Dane guns, 1 Biafra uniform, 1 Biafra flag, 4 explosive devices, 2 suspected explosive chemicals, criminal charms, 1 police beret, and so on. They will be charged to court soon”.
The Police Commissioner disclosed further that 2 other persons who are in possession of unlawful firearms were also arrested.
“The command, while performing its duty will not tolerate any unwholesome behaviour from any quarters – whether by individuals or a group.
“We are poised to clamp down on criminal elements and lawbreakers at all levels”, CP Balarabe warned.
Recall that the Federal Government of Nigeria had declared IPOB as a terrorist organisation and the group’s leader, Nnamdi Kanu is standing trial and currently being detained in the Department of State Security, DSS custody.
