NIMPORT HOLDS 15th CONFERENCE AND EXHIBITION

Nigeria International Maritime Ports and Terminal held its 15th conference and Exhibition on 26th, September 2022 at Lagos on Monday themed  “Optimizing the potentials of the maritime corridor for wealth creation.”

In his welcome remarks, Chairman of NIMPORT, Mr fortune Idu, welcomed the Honorable Minister of state for Transportation, Prince Ademola Adegoroye , the stakeholders and the NIMPORT committees. He noted that for 15 years NIMPORT has continued to create innovative programs and campaigns that have helped to direct policy, programs, and projects in the maritime transportation industry, free trade zone and general logistics. “More so, the NIMPORT expo target is to be a leading one stop networking platform that provides access to regional investment opportunities for the maritime,  ports, terminals, logistics, free trade zone industries and services for Africa” he added

He further says, the notable among the campaigns and programs are the KEEP NIGERIA MOVING , GO-BY WATER, MARITIME YOUTH CAPACITY BUILDING , NIBOAT , industry Research Driven Breakfast Meetings and now Maritime Performance Award.

There was a presentation session where some of the guest speakers including, the vice Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo, chief of the Naval staff( CNS), Mr Ernest Afolabi Umakhihe, Permanent Secretary Federal Ministry of Agriculture & rural Development (FMARD), Mr Farouk A. Salon , Director General/ Chief Executive Officer of Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON), Dr Bayero Salih- farah, Director General / CEO of National Institute of Transport Technology Zaria, Prof Mansur Matazu, Director General /CEO of Nigeria Meteorological Agency (NIMET), was given the opportunity to discuss about their achievements, improvements, challenges and solution from each of the sectors in connection to the Maritime.

Award were given to some of the stakeholders for their support and encouragement. The name of the awardees are, Lagos Ferry Service company, Nigeria port Authority (NPA), Nigeria Shippers Counci, Nigeria Maritime Administration and safety Agency (NIMASA), Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC), SIFAX Group, Lagos Deep Offshore Logistics base( LADOL), Inland container Nigeria Ltd, and Trucks transit parks Limited.

NIMPORT was founded in 2007 to fill the void of the absence of an independent industry development promotion vessel for the maritime ports and logistics market and the lack of a true Africa based industry Exhibition for investment access and technology exchange.

The event creates a platform for multi sector maritime trade promotion, information exchange and networking for assessing industry performance and to bring developmental solutions to national and regional logistics challenges.
