Build intelligence system to tackle insecurity

The Presidential Aspirant of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) , Prince Adewole Adebayo has blamed the ineptitude of the present Government for the security situation in the country.

He said this during a chat with journalists on the state of the Nation and also discussed problems of insecurity in Nigeria.

According to him, “if the proper intelligence system is put in place by training the officers of the security agencies with up to date security techniques, we will end the menace of insecurity in 90 days”.

He believes that intelligence has to be taken seriously and “if the Nigerian Armed Forces join intelligence with relevance agencies, insecurity will be a thing of the past”.

Asked about job creation, he said he has “created more jobs as a person than the top three people in the country. “Imagine the opportunities I will create if I am elected to office”.

Nigeria has witnessed an increase in insecurity ranging from Boko Haram, bandits etc in the past 6 years despite spending huge amount of money trying to tackle insecurity.

In the 2021 budget, the entire security sector’s allocation was 1.97 trillion naira ($4.8 billion), representing a 14% increase from the 1.78 trillion naira ($4.3 billion) allocated in 2020. The breakdown of the defense budget is shown below. 140 billion naira ($340 million) allocated to the Nigerian Air Force.
