FMWA Ends Two-Day Masterclass As Perm Sec Harps On Capacity Development

Amb. Anthonia A. Ekpa, PhD , the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs (FMWA), has reiterated that her Ministry prioritizes Team building and capacity development as those remain the major means to enhancing productivity, efficiency and effectiveness.
Ekpa gave the hint at a two-day Leadership Master class Programme organized for top Management staff, including Directors and Heads of Departments of the Ministry.
The programme took place at the GOTNI Leadership Centre in Abuja , where the Permanent Secretary also featured as one of the facilitators and presented an inspiring paper on “Collaborative Leadership: imperative for realization of an Organization’s Mandate , mission and vision”.
Explaining the importance of the programme, which the Hon. Minister Dame Pauline Tallen fully supported to ensure that the Leadership of the Ministry were well informed of expectations from them, Ekpa maintained that: the Ministry, in line with Federal Government’s commitment towards capacity development and overall productivity of Staff would support training within the country, where the best of facilitators including Government institutions, can be harnessed to train staff for productivity and quality service delivery.
She stated that Staff capacity and ability to deliver on their responsibilities will be encouraged and improved through training through the programme took place from the 26th to 27th of March 2021.
Also speaking at the event, Dr Linus Okorie, the President of the GOTNI Leadership Center, who taught some of the sessions at the training, said that forward-thinking organizations make the needed investment to optimize their workforce.
Okorie further explained that GOTNI Leadership Centre (GLC) is Nigeria’s foremost leadership development hub that offers comprehensive leadership education designed to meet the challenges of the 21st century leadership environment.
According to the GLC boss, the centre through its widely experienced and globally reputed Facility is redefining Africa’s approach to leadership and raising transformed leaders creating value globally.
Other seasoned Facilitators at the programme include Architect Nya Etuk and Ms. Ini Mfon.
At the end of the training, the Directors and Heads of Departments , thanked the Minister, Dame Pauline Tallen , OFR , and PS Amb. Ekpa , for making leadership development and capacity building a priority for the ministry, especially in times like this.
Speaking at the end of the training, the Director of Human Resources of the Ministry, Mrs. Funke Osunkoya , commended the GOTNI Leadership Centre for the excellent learning ambience and top-notch training programme put together by the centre.
The Ministry of Women Affairs is the Federal Government’s institution with the mandate to advise Government , develop policies , implement programmes and projects as well as partner with numerous stakeholders on Women , gender and Children issues as well as monitor and report on government’s initiatives on issues affecting Persons with Disabilities and the the Aged among other responsibilities.
