COVID-19: C’River Distributes Complete Set of ICT Devices to MDAs, Activates Remote Working Strategy
With the accelerating Coronavirus pandemic globally, the social distancing strategy and the clamor of working remotely in the interim, the Cross River State Government through the Ministry of International Development Cooperation and in partnership with the World Bank, has started the distribution of ICT gadgets to all the MDAs in the State to ensure a strict compliance of the partial lockdown directives of the State Government.
“This forms a part of the efforts of HE, Sen. Ben Ayade in joining other world leaders to contain and combat the covid-19 pandemic by encouraging virtual working environments, promoting social distancing and curbing the spread of the virus.
“Although the State is yet to confirm a single case, the State Government and United Nation system are working assiduously to avert any possible outbreak in the State. The gadgets will also scale up activities at the State’s Covid-19 Emergency Operation Center (EOC) and further raise the level of alertness across the State.” Dr. Inyang Asibong, Commissioner MIDC said.
The gadgets include desktop computers, Laptops, printers, softwares, UPS devices, and stabilizers, which are being distributed to the MDAs beginning with the Ministry of Health and State Internal Revenue Service, who are essentials during this period.
The Chairman of the Cross River Internal Revenue Service, Mr Akpanke Ogar, who received on behalf of the Agency, promised that all Senior Staff on duty will practice social distancing at work and ensure optimal use of the devices for service delivery.
The State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Betta Edu, upon receiving the ICT gadgets on behalf of the State Health team, hinted on the level of preparedness of the State with optimism and confidence, given the State owned ventilators are on standby whilst thanking the MIDC for their supports.
Also present at the presentation were the Primary Health Care DG; Dr. Janet Ekpenyong, the DG State Agency for the Control of AIDS; Dr. Etcheri Ansa, the Cross River -State and Local Governance Reform (CR-SLOGOR) project lead Mr. Imbufe, and Engr. Thomas Aruku, Chairman, Cross River State Road Maintenance Agency.
