2023 Elections: Avoid acts that may hinder the electoral process, CP Balarabe cautions Politicians

The members of the political class in Cross River State have been cautioned by the Police Command on the need to play by the rules and avoid acts that may hinder the electoral process.

This was made known by the State Police Commissioner, CP Sule Balarabe in Calabar during his maiden Media engagement.

He said ahead of the 2023 General Elections, the Force will not condone any act or acts that may disrupt the electioneering process in the State.

He said: “In view of the upcoming 2023 General Elections and the ongoing political activities in the State, the Cross River Police Command is determined to ensure no violence, hate speeches and other conducts likely to disrupt the electioneering process is not entertained in the State.

“The Command, therefore, warns all Political Parties, their Candidates and supporters to play by the rules and abide by all the Electoral Law guiding election process in the country as infractions will not be tolerated and whoever violates the law will be dealt with in line with the extant laws of the land.”

On insecurity in the State, the Police Chief said the Command has set out a new technical intelligence gathering strategy using community policing tools, particularly at the Uyanga Federal Highway, to stem the rate of kidnapping.

The Police Commissioner also paraded six suspected criminals, who were apprehended for various offences including murder, unlawful possession of firearm, kidnapping, among others.
