World Cup roundup: Morocco sets record in win over Portugal as France defeat England

Morocco officially became the first-African team to reach the semi-final of the FIFA World Cup after beating Portugal 1-0 in Saturday’s quarter-final.
Yousseff En-Nesyri was the hero as his first half goal was enough to end Portugal’s run.
The Atlas Lions finished the game with ten men after Walid Cheddira was sent off in the 93rd minute for a second yellow card.
Walid Regragui’s team have faced Belgium, Croatia, Spain in this World Cup Portugal but are yet to conceded a goal from an opposition player.
Elsewhere, France who are the defending champions defeated England 2-1 in the quarter finals of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar on Saturday.
Olivier Giroud scored the winning goal to give Les Bleus the win.
The French took the lead in the first half from Aurelien Tchouameni who scored from outside the eighteen yard box. Harry Kane equalised after the break with a penalty kick.
Giroud scored to stretch his record as France all time highest goalscorer to 54 and make it 2-1.
Harry Kane missed a second penalty kick, booting the ball well over the bar.
France will face Morocco in Wednesday’s second semifinal.
