West Africa Economic Summit 2025 to Unlock Regional Trade and Investment Opportunities

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with support from the Presidency, is organizing the West Africa Economic Summit (WAES), at the Abuja International Conference Centre from June 20 to 21, 2025. This premier economic event brings together leaders, investors, entrepreneurs, and changemakers to shape West Africa’s economic direction.
With the theme: “Unlocking Trade and Investment Opportunities in the Region,” the summit will focus on a bold vision for a West Africa that is economically sovereign, interconnected, and globally competitive.
The Objective is to drive regional growth by unlocking real opportunities and fostering partnerships.
Key Participants include Heads of State, business leaders, global investors, development partners, youth innovators, and entrepreneurs.
Summit activities will involve a presidential roundtable, deal room for investment matchmaking, youth empowerment showcases, and regional project partnership announcements.

Significance:
The summit aims to¹:
– Foster economic integration and cooperation among West African states
– Unlock the region’s economic potential and drive sustainable growth
– Promote scalable investments and youth-driven innovation
– Enhance intra-regional trade and investment
Inclusivity:
Notably, the Alliance of Sahel States (Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso) has been invited to participate in the summit, despite their withdrawal from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) earlier this year.
