Day 1: Saturday 23rd August, 2025
Northern Region:
There are prospects of thunderstorms with moderate rains over parts of Borno, Yobe, Jigawa, Gombe,
Bauchi, Adamawa, Taraba and Kaduna states during the morning hours. During the afternoon to evening
hours, thunderstorms with moderate rains are expected over most parts of Kano, Kebbi, Gombe, Bauchi,
Jigawa, Taraba, Kaduna, Adamawa, Yobe and Borno states. There are prospects of light rains over Niger, Nasarawa, the Federal Capital Territory, Benue, Kogi and Plateau states, while thunderstorms with moderate rains are expected over Nasarawa, Benue, Kogi,
Kwara, Niger, Plateau and the Federal Capital Territory during the afternoon/evening period.
Southern Region:
Cloudy skies are expected over the region with chances of light rains over parts of Oyo, Ebonyi, Ondo,
Ogun, Edo, Enugu and Lagos states during the morning hours. Later in the afternoon/evening period,
intermittent light rains are anticipated over the region.
Day 2: Sunday 24th August, 2025
Northern Region:
Thunderstorms with moderate rains are anticipated over parts of Yobe, Borno, Jigawa, Kaduna, Gombe
and Bauchi states during the morning hours. During the afternoon to evening hours, thunderstorms with
moderate rains are expected over parts of Borno, Jigawa, Yobe, Kano, Bauchi, Katsina and Kebbi states.
Central Region:
There are prospects of light rains over parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Nasarawa, Kogi, Niger and
Plateau states during the morning period. In the afternoon/evening hours, light rains are anticipated over
parts of Plateau, the Federal Capital Territory, Kogi, Niger and Kwara states.
Southern Region:
Cloudy skies are expected over the region with prospects of light rains over parts of Oyo, Ogun, Ondo,
Osun, Ekiti, Cross River and Akwa Ibom states during the morning hours. Later during the afternoon/evening period, intermittent light rains are expected over the region.
Day 3: Monday 25th August, 2025
Northern Region:
Thunderstorms with moderate rains are anticipated over parts of Kebbi, Kano, Zamfara, Sokoto, Jigawa,
Borno, Yobe and Bauchi states during the morning hours. During the afternoon to evening hours, thunderstorms with moderate rains are expected over parts of Katsina, Kebbi, Taraba, Zamfara, Sokoto and Bauchi states during the afternoon/evening period. There is high possibility of flood occurring in parts
of Borno and Yobe states during the forecast period.
Central Region:
Cloudy skies are expected with chances of light rains over parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Nasarawa
and Plateau states during the morning hours. Later in the afternoon/evening hours, intermittent light
rains are anticipated over parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Niger, Kogi, Plateau, Nasarawa, Kogi and
Kwara states.
Southern Region:
Cloudy skies are expected over the region with chances of light rains over parts of Osun, Oyo, Ogun, Ondo,
Edo, Anambra, Bayelsa, Delta, Lagos and Cross River states during the morning period. Later during the
afternoon/evening period, light rains are expected over parts of Enugu, Abia, Ebonyi, Imo and Rivers states.
Advisory
i. Driving under heavy rain should be avoided.
ii. To avoid leaching of nutrients, farmers should refrain from applying fertilizer and pesticides right before
the rains.
iii. Ensure warm clothing for the vulnerable persons due to low night-time temperatures.
iv. Ensure that loose objects are fastened to avoid collision.
v. Disconnect electrical appliances from electrical sockets.
v. Stay away from tall trees to avoid impact from falling branches and broken trees.
