UI honours four highly successful Nigerians

Four highly successful Nigerians have been honoured by the University of Ibadan with the conferment of honorary degrees on them.

The conferment was made at the 75th Foundation Day Anniversary of the University on Friday, 17 November 2023, in Ibadan.
The decoration was done by the Chancellor, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto.

The four honoured great achievers were Senator Daisy Ehanire Danjuma; Otunba (Dr.) Solomon Ayodele Oladunni; Sir (Dr.) Kesington Adebukunola Adebutu; and Alhaji Abdul Samad Isyaku Rabiu.

Senator Daisy Ehanire Danjuma was conferred with the Honorary degree of Doctor of Laws (LL.D Honoris Causa); Otunba (Dr.) Solomon Ayodele Oladunni was conferred with a honorary degree of Doctor of Letters (D. Litt. Honoris Causa) while both Sir (Dr.) Kesington Adebukunola Adebutu and Alhaji Abdul Samad Isyaku Rabiu were conferred with Honorary degree of Doctor of Science (D.Sc. Honoris Causa)

Senator Danjuma and Otunba Oladunni received their honours in person, while Sir Adebutu was represented by his first daughter, Dr. Abiola Olorode while Alhaji Rabiu was represented by Dr Ubon Udoh, the MD/CEO of ASR Africa.

Senator Danjuma, while responding on behalf of all the honourees, expressed great delight that the premier University in all ramifications found them worthy to be honoured.

She assured that the honour would serve as a call for more service to humanity, adding that the recipients would certainly justify the confidence reposed in them.

The ceremony was witnessed by traditional rulers, religious leaders, leaders of business and government, as well as families and friends of the honourees.

The Registrar of the University, Mr. Ganiyu Oke Saliu said the selection process of persons to be conferred with the honorary degrees of the University of Ibadan remains transparent and unassailable.
