Tributes Pour in for Former President Muhammadu Buhari as Mannir Condoles Family

The former Deputy Governor of Katsina State, Mannir Yakubu, has paid tribute to the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing him as a sincere leader who worked tirelessly to address the country’s challenges. Buhari passed away on July 13, 2025, in a London hospital after a prolonged illness.
Mannir Yakubu extended his condolences to Buhari’s family, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the people of Katsina State, where Buhari hailed from. He prayed for Allah to grant Buhari mercy and provide his family with the strength to cope with the loss.
“May Allah grant him eternal rest. Ameen Alh. Buhari’s departure marks the end of an era, but his legacy will continue to shape Nigeria and the hearts of millions for generations to come,” Yakubu said.
Yakubu highlighted Buhari’s commitment to justice, integrity, and the well-being of Nigerians. He noted that Buhari’s faith guided his decisions, particularly during national difficulties, and that he believed in accountability, order, and self-restraint.
“As a leader, President Buhari was known for his firm stance against corruption and his pursuit of security in times when the nation was deeply tested,” Yakubu added.
Buhari’s passing has sparked an outpouring of tributes from across Nigeria and beyond. World leaders, politicians, and citizens have reflected on his legacy, patriotism, and unwavering commitment to Nigeria.
Other notable figures who have paid tribute to Buhari include, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu who has directed that national flags to be flown at half-mast and dispatched Vice President Kashim Shettima to London to accompany Buhari’s body back home.
Former President Goodluck Jonathan described Buhari as a courageous leader and a committed public servant who made considerable contributions to Nigeria’s peace and progress.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo called Buhari a “cool patriot” who tried his best to give the country the needed progress and development.
Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala in het X handle expressed shock and sadness, saying, “May the Soul of HE @MBuhari rest in perfect peace.”
Akinwumi Adesina paid tribute, saying, “Thank you for your leadership, patriotism, and selfless service to Nigeria. Thank you for your love and support for me. May God comfort your dear wife and family. May your soul rest in peace.”
